In-App Web3 Wallet
The Wallet tab is CrossFi App's built-in Web3 wallet. It is primarily a fast and secure way to fund your card without leaving the app: receive crypto to your wallet address, then move it into your Card Balance (also called Held Balance) via Add Money / Hold.
The wallet is non-custodial: you control it with your seed phrase.
To access full card functionality, complete KYC Verification
Besides card funding, the wallet also supports on-chain deposits and transfers, and provides quick access to security settings (seed phrase, private key, backups).
- In-app wallet: use Home → Add Money → I have crypto (XFI or USDC) (the Internal transfer flow).
- External wallet: use Home → Add Money → Transfer from external wallet — see the dedicated guide: Card Top-Up via External Wallet
👛 Wallet Balance
Your on-chain funds on your wallet address (0x...).
💳 Card Balance (Held Balance)
Funds held/locked for spending with the CrossFi Card.
↩️ Unhold anytime
Withdraw held funds back to your Wallet Balance when you want.
Balance model (Wallet vs Card)
| Balance | What it is | Where it lives | What you use it for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wallet Balance (Web3) | Funds on your blockchain wallet address (shown as 0x...) | On-chain | Deposits/receiving, tracking history, and preparing funds for card funding |
| Card Balance (Held Balance) | Funds held/locked for card usage | On-chain (allocated for card operations) | Paying with the CrossFi Card and managing card-ready funds |
Both balances represent your funds. The difference is how they are allocated: Card Balance is held for card usage and can be Unheld back to Wallet Balance.
When this guide says Deposit, it means sending funds to your wallet's on-chain address (the address you can copy in Wallet → Deposit).
- On the Home tab, you will see Add Money.
- In the Wallet tab, the same action may still be labeled Hold.
Both mean: move funds into Card Balance (Held Balance) to fund your card.
Add Money: in-app vs external wallet
In the Home tab, tap Add Money. A Hold funds sheet opens with two ways to fund your card — the difference is where your funds come from. For a full walkthrough of the external wallet path, see Card Top-Up via External Wallet
- Transfer from external wallet → Deposit from external wallet
- I have crypto (XFI or USDC) → Internal transfer
- 🔗 Transfer from external wallet
- 🧩 I have crypto (XFI or USDC)
Use this option if you already keep funds in an external wallet (for example MetaMask) and want to fund the card directly from that wallet.
Important limitation: if you connect MetaMask (or another external wallet), you can fund the card only with funds that are on CrossFi Chain in that wallet.
Quick overview:
- Go to Home → Add Money → Transfer from external wallet → Deposit from external wallet.
- Connect your wallet and complete the one-time message signing step (it does not move funds by itself).
- Select the token and amount, review the Hold Fee, then confirm the transaction in your wallet.
Full step-by-step: Card Top-Up via External Wallet
Use this option if your funds are on another network and you want to fund the card inside CrossFi App via the built-in wallet flow.
- Card funding assets: XFI and USDC.
- Cross-network support: you can start from another network and complete the funding flow in-app.
- Auto conversion: other popular tokens (for example
USDT) may be automatically converted to USDC during this flow.
Quick overview:
- Go to Home → Add Money → I have crypto (XFI or USDC) → Internal transfer.
- Select the asset you have and the source network, then follow the on-screen steps.
- If your asset is not directly supported for card funding, the flow may convert it into USDC automatically (for example
USDT→USDC). - Confirm the operation, review the Hold Fee, and check your updated Card Balance (Held Balance) in the Wallet tab.
Set up your wallet (first time)
When you open the Wallet tab for the first time, you can import an existing wallet or create a new one.
- Import seed phrase
- Create a new wallet
If you already have an EVM-compatible wallet (for example MetaMask or Trust Wallet), you can import it into CrossFi App.
Tip: you can paste the entire recovery phrase into any word field — the app will distribute the words automatically.
- Tap Import seed phrase.
- Review and accept the Terms of Use.
- Enter your 12-word recovery phrase.
- Tap Confirm.
Result: your wallet is imported and your on-chain balance becomes visible in the app.
If you are new to Web3, CrossFi App can generate a new wallet for you.
- Tap Create a new wallet.
- Write down your 12-word seed phrase offline (paper/metal). Avoid screenshots and cloud notes.
- Complete the verification step (word order check).
Result: your new wallet is ready to receive deposits and fund your card.
CrossFi Support cannot recover your seed phrase. If you lose it, you may permanently lose access to your funds.
Deposit (receive) funds to Wallet Balance
To deposit funds into your Wallet Balance:
- Open the Wallet tab.
- Tap Deposit (or Receive).
- Copy your wallet address (
0x...) or share the QR code. - Send funds to that address from an exchange or another wallet.
When sending funds, always choose the correct network shown in the app. Using the wrong network may result in lost funds.
Wallet quick actions (Hold / Deposit / Send / Settings)
In the Wallet tab, you can use these shortcuts:
| Action | What it does | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Hold | Funds your card by moving assets into Card Balance (Held Balance) | When you want to spend with your CrossFi Card |
| Deposit | Shows your wallet address (0x...) and QR code to receive funds | When you want to receive crypto to Wallet Balance |
| Send | Sends crypto to a wallet address or phone number | When you want to transfer funds out of the wallet |
| Settings | Wallet name/address, private key access, secret phrase backups, and wallet removal | When you need to manage wallet security and backup options |
Never share your seed phrase or private key with anyone. Support will never ask for them.
Hold / Unhold: funding and withdrawing card-ready funds
Hold (or Add Money) moves funds into Card Balance, so you can spend them with your CrossFi Card.
Unhold moves funds back to your Wallet Balance.
Where to find these actions:
- Add Money: Home → Add Money
- Hold: Wallet → Hold
- Unhold (current UI): Home → Manage → Account information → Unhold
- Unhold (legacy UI): Home → More → Unhold
During Hold, the app shows a line like Hold Fee ≈ 0.5 XFI fee will be applied on the allocating screen. Always review the fee shown on your screen before you confirm.
Unhold step-by-step (current UI)
- Go to Home → Manage → Account information → Unhold.
- Select the token (for example
XFI (CrossFi Chain)), then enter the amount or tap MAX.- The receiving wallet address is shown on this screen and is usually filled automatically.
- Review the Unhold confirmation screen (amount + receiving address), then tap Confirm.
- After completion, open the transaction details to see the Status and the Transaction hash.
When you Unhold, funds are returned only to the same wallet address that funded your Card Balance.
You cannot mix funds from multiple wallets in one Card Balance.
If you funded the card from Wallet A and still have held funds, you must Unhold everything back to Wallet A until Card Balance becomes 0. Only then you can fund the card from Wallet B.
Security essentials
🧾 Store seed phrase offline
Keep your 12-word seed phrase on paper/metal. Avoid screenshots, messengers, and cloud storage.
🚫 Never share it
Support will never ask for your seed phrase. Anyone asking for it is attempting fraud.
🔄 It is your recovery key
The seed phrase is the only way to restore access if you change devices or reinstall the app.
Wallet Settings: what you can manage
In Wallet → Settings, you can:
- View your Wallet address
- Access your Private key (unlock to reveal)
- Manage Secret phrase backups
- Delete wallet from the app interface
Never share your private key or seed phrase. Anyone who has them can control your funds.
Remove a wallet from the app interface
If you want to import a different wallet, you can remove the current one from the app:
- Go to Wallet → Settings (gear icon).
- Tap Delete Wallet (or Remove Wallet).
- Confirm with your seed phrase.
Note: removing the wallet only removes it from the app interface — the wallet still exists on-chain and can be re-imported later.
FAQ & troubleshooting
Yes. Card Balance and Held Balance refer to the same idea: funds allocated for card spending.
Both refer to the same action: funding the card by moving assets into Card Balance (Held Balance). In the current UI, Home uses Add Money, while Wallet uses Hold.
Open Home → Manage → Account information, then tap Unhold.
Hold Fee is a fee shown on the allocating screen before you fund your card. The app displays the exact value for your transaction (for example it can be shown as about 0.5 XFI).
This happens because of the One Source Rule. If you still have funds in Card Balance that were funded from Wallet A, you must Unhold them back to Wallet A first. When Card Balance becomes 0, you can fund the card from Wallet B.
Funds are returned to the Origin Wallet — the exact wallet address that funded your Card Balance.
No. CrossFi Support cannot recover your seed phrase. Without it, access to funds may be unrecoverable.
Funding the card is an on-chain transaction. Like any blockchain operation, it requires a standard network fee to be processed on CrossFi Chain.
